International Mixed Media Virtual Arts Exchange and Exhibition
Scambio e Mostra d'Arte Internazionale Mista e Virtuale
Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts (BACCA) and Sognare Insieme Viaggi travel agency are proud to announce their partnership in presenting an innovative international arts exchange: the “Recycled and Found” mixed media exhibition. This virtual showcase will brings together artists from Calabria, Italy, and Long Island, New York and the Greater New York Metro area, inviting them to redefine artistic boundaries by crafting mixed media artworks from unconventional found materials.
The Recycled and Found exhibition serves as a platform for these artists to collaborate, inspire, and envision a sustainable future through their creative expression. The participating artists utilized a variety of discarded materials including, but not limited to, plastic waste, reclaimed metal, and paper within their work. The exhibition aims to challenge viewers to reconsider the value of everyday items while promoting sustainable practices through art.

Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts (BACCA) e l'agenzia di viaggi Sognare Insieme Viaggi sono entusiasti di annunciare la loro partnership nella presentazione di uno scambio artistico internazionale innovativo: la mostra di arte multimediale "Recycled and Found". Questa vetrina virtuale riunirà artisti dalla Calabria, Italia, e Long Island, New York, e dalla Greater New York Metro area, invitandoli a ridefinire i confini artistici creando opere d'arte multimediale da materiali trovati non convenzionali.
La mostra "Recycled and Found" funge da piattaforma per questi artisti per collaborare, ispirarsi e immaginare un futuro sostenibile attraverso la loro espressione creativa. Gli artisti partecipanti hanno utilizzato una varietà di materiali scartati, tra cui, ma non solo, rifiuti plastici, metallo recuperato e carta nei loro lavori. La mostra mira a sfidare gli spettatori a riconsiderare il valore degli oggetti quotidiani promuovendo pratiche sostenibili attraverso l'arte.
This exhibition aims to:
• Form a diverse and representative organizing committee consisting of artists, curators, and professionals from both Italy and the USA.
• Inspire viewers to reconsider the value of everyday items and encourage sustainable practices through artistic expression.
• Encourage collaborative work, the exchange of ideas, and establish a unique framework for international arts and ideas exchange.
• Encourage collaborating artists and exhibition viewers to become agents of change in their own communities.

Alfredo Granata
Alfredo Granata was born in Celico (CS) in 1956. In 1976 he completed his studies at the Liceo Artistico in Cosenza and in 1980 graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. Towards the end of the 1970s he developed a strong interest in the three-dimensional aspects of painting. Drawn toward the pop art scene, in 1980 he met Alberto Burri in his studio in Grottarossa (RM) while working on his thesis devoted to the Maestro of contemporary art. After graduating he returns to Calabria to live and work. In recent years, alongside his work as an artist, he has become increasingly involved in proposing and organising arts events. Though living and working in a remote part of the Italian south, he believes he is placed at the centre of the world.
Alfredo Granata è nato a Celico (CS) nel 1956. Nel 1976 si diploma al Liceo Artistico di Cosenza e nel 1980 termina gli studi presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma. Alla fine degli anni ‘70 manifesta un forte interesse verso la materia della pittura che culminerà nella tridimensionalità dell’opera. E’ attratto dalla Pop - Art e dintorni. Nel 1980 conosce Alberto Burri nel suo studio a Grottarossa (RM) in occasione della sua tesi sul grande Maestro Contemporaneo. Ritorna in Calabria per viverci e lavorare. Negli ultimi anni, all’attività d’artista, è maturato l’interesse di proporre ed organizzare eventi d’arte. Vive e lavora in una periferia di provincia ed fortemente convinto di essersi posizionato al centro del mondo.
Antonio De Pietro
Antonio De Pietro, born in Diamante (CS) on 12.06.1962, lives and works in Rome. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1988. In 1986, he had a significant encounter with the great artist Emilio Vedova, with whom he stayed for six months in his studio.

Since the 1990s, his artistic research has changed pace; the rapidity of gesture and sign has been replaced by slow, meticulous, sedimentary work. By the end of the decade, his subjects (which still remain central to his poetic expression) became clearer: Acquasanta, Warm Mediterranean, Memoire, Key, Love Letters, Only at Dawn, Absolute Silence. In addition to paint, his works incorporate constructive materials such as iron, wood, nails, glass, plastic, glue, and sand.

His works are present in museums on permanent display and in private national and international collections.

Antonio De Pietro, nato a Diamante (CS) il 12.06.1962, vive e lavora a Roma. Si diploma nel 1988 all'Accademia delle Belle Arti di Roma. Nel 1986 é importante l'incontro con il grande artista Emilio Vedova, nel cui studio rimane per sei mesi. Dagli anni '90 la sua ricerca cambia velocità, alla rapidità del gesto e del segno sostituisce una lavorazione lenta, accurata, sedimentaria e le velature gli consentono di creare una pittura materica, stratificata eppure liscia come il vetro. Alla fine del decennio si schiariscono i temisoggetti che tuttora sono protagonisti della sua poetica Acquasanta, Caldo Mediterraneo, Memore, Chiave, Lettere d'Amore, Solo all'Alba, Assoluto Silenzio. Alla materia pittorica si aggiunge la materia costruttiva ferro, legno, chiodi, vetro, plastica, colla, sabbia.

Antonio Froio
Antonio Froio was born in Stalettì in 1956. Froio graduated in civil engineering and obtained a diploma in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Catanzaro. He has participated in numerous collective art exhibitions from 1992 to 2007. He has created stage sets for theatrical performances and has collaborated, with artistic interventions, on the non-modal videos of poet Luigi Bianco from 1998 to 2016. He is interested in local history and has produced some publications on the subject. He has been involved in volunteer work from 1998 to 2011, managing the Municipal Library "Vivarium" in Stalettì.
Nato a Stalettì nel 1956, laureato in ingegneria civile è diplomato in Pittura presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Catanzaro. Ha partecipato a numerose mostre d’arte collettive dal 1992 al 2007. Ha prodotto scenografie in rappresentazioni teatrali e ha collaborato, con interventi artistici, ai video amodali del poeta Luigi Bianco dal 1998 al 2016. Si interessa di storia locale e ha prodotto alcune pubblicazioni in merito. Ha svolto attività di volontariato dal 1998 al 2011 gestendo la Biblioteca Comunale “Vivarium” di Stalettì.
Bri Sander
Bri Sander's art explores human interaction with nature using found objects paired with traditional mediums
such as watercolor, acrylic, oil pastel, and ink. She creates mixed media paintings, 3D works, linoleum block prints, and wearable objects. Based on Long Island, New York, Bri draws creative inspiration from the local
marine environment. She often references her background in biological sciences and past research in the field of microplastic pollution. Bri serves as the director of education and outreach for UpSculpt, a nonprofit organization empowering action against the crisis of ocean plastic pollution through art, science, and educational workshops.

L'arte di Bri Sander esplora l'interazione umana con la natura utilizzando oggetti trovati accoppiati con mezzi tradizionali come acquerello, acrilico, pastelli a olio e inchiostro. Crea dipinti in tecnica mista, opere tridimensionali, stampe su linoleum e oggetti indossabili. Basata a Long Island, New York, Bri trae ispirazione creativa dall'ambiente marino locale. Spesso fa riferimento al suo background nelle scienze biologiche e alle precedenti ricerche nel campo dell'inquinamento da microplastica. Bri ricopre il ruolo di direttore dell'educazione e dell'outreach per UpSculpt, un'organizzazione non-profit che promuove l'azione contro la crisi dell'inquinamento da plastica negli oceani attraverso arte, scienza e workshop educativi.

Gregory Rapp
Babylon, NY based mixed media artist, Gregory Rapp has been working in an assemblage capacity for nearly a decade. His work has been a way to examine the things in life that are better expressed without words, allowing the pieces to open their own dialogue with the viewer.

L'artista di media misti con sede a Babylon, NY, Gregory Rapp, lavora nell'assemblaggio da quasi un decennio. Il suo lavoro è stato un modo per esaminare le cose nella vita che sono meglio esposte senza parole, permettendo ai pezzi di aprire il proprio dialogo con lo spettatore.
Luigi Impieri
Luigi Impieri was born in Belvedere Marittimo (CS). He graduated in Scenography from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and obtained a degree in DAMS from the University of Bologna.

As an Art History teacher and a versatile artist, his interests span various fields of art. Among his various activities, it is worth mentioning "Attraversa_Menti," a pilot project, unique in Italy so far, born from the artist's desire (in agreement with Schools, Municipalities, Local Authorities, and Associations) to combine art with the need to educate the new generations to beauty, through the recovery of public spaces left in a state of degradation, using recycled materials. For this project he was awarded the: "INTERNATIONAL MOSAIC AND ARCHITECTURE AWARD 2013", Pordenone; “GIANOVECENTO AWARD”, Belvedere Marittimo.
His work has been covered by newspapers, magazines, publishing houses, radio and television channels such as RAI. He currently lives in Forlì and teaches “Art History” at the G.B. Morgagni Classical High School in Forlì.
Luigi Impieri è nato a Belvedere Marittimo (CS). Si è laureato in Scenografia presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma ed ha conseguito la laurea in DAMS, presso l’Università di Bologna.

Insegnante di Storia dell'Arte e Artista poliedrico, i suoi interessi spaziano din diversi campio dell’arte. Tra le varie attività, va segnalato "Attraversa_Menti", un progetto pilota, unico ad essere stato realizzato finora in Italia, che nasce dalla volontà dell’artista (in accordo con le Istituzioni Scolastiche. le Amministrazioni Comunali, gli Enti Locali e le Associazioni), di coniugare l’arte con la necessità di educare al bello le nuove generazioni, attraverso il recupero di spazi pubblici lasciati al degrado, utilizzando materiali di riciclo.
Per tale progetto, l’artista è stato premiato: "PREMIO INTERNAZIONALE MOSAICO ED ARCHITETTURA 2013", Pordenone; “PREMIO GIANOVECENTO”, Belvedere Marittimo.
Del suo lavoro si sono occupati quotidiani, riviste, case editrici, testate radiofoniche e televisive come la RAI. Attualmente vive a Forlì ed insegna “Storia dell’Arte” presso il Liceo Classico G.B. Morgagni di Forlì.
Sarah Vitale
Sarah Vitale is a visual artist, art historian and curator. After a traditional training in photography at The Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan she earned her postgraduate degree in Medieval and Renaissance studies at KU Leuven in Belgium. Vitale’s artistic practice is informed by her years in academia researching emotion and empathy in aesthetic experience. Her work analyzes the phenomenon of memory of the incompleteness often employing elements of surrealism using fragments conceptualized from cultural imagery to create a discourse on the relationship between imagination and reality. Vitale has exhibited widely in Belgium and works primarily in photography, collage and poetry. She is now based in Long Island, NY.

Sarah Vitale è un'artista visiva, storica dell'arte e curatrice. Dopo una formazione tradizionale in fotografia presso il Fashion Institute of Technology di Manhattan, ha conseguito il suo diploma post-laurea in studi medievali e rinascimentali presso la KU Leuven in Belgio. La pratica artistica di Vitale è informata dai suoi anni nell'ambito accademico, dedicati alla ricerca sulle emozioni e sull'empatia nell'esperienza estetica. Il suo lavoro analizza il fenomeno della memoria dell'incompletezza, impiegando spesso elementi di surrealismo utilizzando frammenti concettualizzati dall'immaginario culturale per creare un discorso sulla relazione tra immaginazione e realtà. Vitale ha esposto ampiamente in Belgio e lavora principalmente in fotografia, collage e poesia. Attualmente risiede a Long Island, NY.
Stefano Ricci
Stefano Ricci, born in Forlì in 1970, is a visual artist. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna (painting section) and works as an art and image teacher in Forlì. After an initial neo-expressionist debut in painting in the nineties, he has participated in group exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

Always an experimenter, ranging from graphic design to painting, from video to performances, in the year 2000, he won the first edition of the "Carmen Silvestroni" award with his "post-railway" painting cycle. Since 2001, he has developed the "new world project" in various personal and collective artistic events, employing and reworking fragments of maps, photographs, and travel artifacts in graphic-pictorial and digital form... always seeking the hidden relationships that link the fragments of things to places (micro-macro worlds).
His latest works, titled "return to archetypes," explore the possible symbolic relationships present in the collective cultural imagination, resonating with the cycles of his past artistic works and reworked in the present, projected towards the future...

Stefano Ricci, (Forlì 1970) artista visivo laureato presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna (sezione pittura) docente di arte ed immagine a Forlì. Dopo un primo esordio pittorico neoespressionista dagli anni novanta prende parte a mostre collettive in Italia e all’estero.
Da sempre sperimentatore, dalla grafica alla pittura dal video alle performance con il ciclo pittorico “post-binari” nel 2000 vince la prima edizione del premio “Carmen Silvestroni.” Dal 2001 ha elaborato in diversi eventi artistici personali e collettivi il progetto “new world project“ attraverso l'impiego e la rielaborazione grafico-pittorica e digitale di frammenti di mappe, fotografie e reperti di viaggio… ricercando sempre le relazioni nascoste che legano i frammenti delle cose ai luoghi (micro-macro mondi).

Gli ultimi lavori intitolati “ritorno agli archetipi” esplorano le possibili relazioni simboliche presenti nell’immaginario culturale collettivo che trovano risonanze nei cicli dei propri lavori artistici passati e vengono rielaborati nel presente, proiettati verso il futuro…
Tom Brydelsky
Tom Brydelsky, a painter living on Long Island, New York, creates abstractions in oils and acrylics and continues to explore the beauty of encaustic.
​
Working with encaustic, his signature landscapes and florals are an investigation into the nature of perception, memory, and the living environment. In his new Paintings, Ribbons and Swatch series Brydelsky combines bold color with washes of pigment and ribbons of collage creating images that hum with energy. Extending the boundaries of exploration, Brydelsky has recently begun to look at the effects of literal light on the surface of his canvases. His Lightworks series reveals LED* lights peering through layers of paint that swirl across the canvas in a uniquely luminous space—a reflection of the spirit residing within each of us individually and within our collective selves.
A recipient of the prestigious Pollock-Krasner award, Brydelsky’s work has appeared in numerous publications, televised features on art and home décor, as well as group and solo exhibitions in the
US and Europe. His work is found in permanent public and private collections including the Ben Shahn Center Galleries, William Paterson University and the Heckscher Museum of Art. Currently, Brydelsky exhibits his work in Chicago, New York, and Louisville. Brydelsky has also worked for many years as a museum educator at New York institutions including The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, The Queens Museum of Art, The Heckscher Museum of Art and the Parrish Art Museum.
Brydelsky received his BFA from Empire State College CUNY and attended the Art Students League from 1977 to 1981.

Tom Brydelsky, un pittore che vive a Long Island, New York, crea astrazioni in oli e acrilici e continua a esplorare la bellezza dell'encausto.
Lavorando con l'encausto, i suoi paesaggi e fiori, marchi distintivi, sono un'indagine sulla natura della percezione, della memoria e dell'ambiente vitale. Nei suoi nuovi dipinti, della serie "Ribbons and Swatch", Brydelsky combina colori audaci con lavaggi di pigmento e nastri di collage creando immagini cariche di energia. Ampliando i confini dell'esplorazione, Brydelsky ha recentemente iniziato a esaminare gli effetti della luce letterale sulla superficie delle sue tele. Toxic/Nature Studios
Toxic/Nature Studios (Scott Schneider) features environmental photography that celebrates the majesty of nature and laments its demise, in small moments. Using close-up macro techniques, the photographs express his appreciation for and concern about the environment.
From his photographs, Scott creates archival, digital pigment prints using environmentally friendly inks on highly sustainable bamboo paper. Furthering his mission, a portion of sales are donated to charities that focus on protecting the environment.
