Artists Create Change - Long Island Public Arts Festival

 

About Our Program:

BACCA (Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts), Harper Bella, and Jose Tutiven - the Artists Create Change project and partnership through CRNY - invite artists to submit their art to the Long Island Public Arts Festival - a vibrant celebration of creativity transforming Phelps Lane Park in North Babylon, NY into an immersive public arts exhibition.

The Festival will Feature

  • Visual Artists, Large-scale Art Installations: All Open Call Information Below

  • Sculptors, Sculpture Garden: All Information Here

  • Workshops: Full calendar of events will be available at a later date.

Details:

Artists will be selected for their works to be featured on large-scale vinyl installations as part of a public arts festival to be held at Town of Babylon Phelp’s Lane park in North Babylon. 

​

Artists will submit digital files, and BACCA will work with Turtle Graphx to professionally print selected works on vinyl that will be installed on outdoor structures. 

​

 • New and Existing Original Work in all 2-Dimensional Media will be considered. Guidelines for sculptors differ - sculptors may find all information to submit a proposal here. Mixed media submissions are eligible if they can be documented adequately (scanned or photographed) and follow image guidelines.

• Artists may submit up to 5 entries for consideration.

Entry Fee:

There is a general submission fee for up to 5 entries. Regardless of the number of entries, the fee remains the same.

​

BACCA Members: $10
Non-Members: $15

Students through Grade 12: FREE

Application Requirements:
Please follow these guidelines.

  1. Submit an image of each submitted work for consideration. All images must be high-resolution, and must be a minimum of 300 dpi, suitable for large-format printing. 

  2. Email all required materials as an attachment addressed to: submissions@babylonarts.org with “Long Island Public Arts” in the subject line. All submissions must be sent as an email by Tuesday, April 30th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. EST

    *Artists must follow all application instructions to be considered for this opportunity.

 

Application Details to include:
Please include the following information in your email body: 

  1. Artist Name

  2. Artist City of Residence

  3. Artist Bio (shortform) 

  4. School (if applicable)

  5. Your social media handles (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) (optional)

  6.  A link to your website (optional)

 

Please include the following information in your email body for *each submission:

  1. Title of Work

  2. Media (Materials)

  3. Dimensions

  4. Indicate if the artwork is for sale. If so, please include the price and a contact email address or phone number. Viewers will be asked to contact you directly for details. 

  5. A short artwork description (less than 140 characters)

 

Artist Agreement
By submitting work to the LI Public Arts Festival, artists agree to allow the accepted works and submitted documentation to be printed for public display and used for publicity and for educational and archival purposes. Artworks may be shared on social media platforms to the artist’s credit. Artists will retain the rights to their work published on the BACCA website and platforms. Entry to the exhibition constitutes agreement to all conditions.

BACCA’s programs are made possible in part with public funds from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, Suffolk County, the Town of Babylon, the Town of Babylon Local Development Corporation (LDC), the Lindenhurst Business Improvement District, and from membership and private contributions.
