Directors Workshop

 

Refine your directing skills with this informative and interactive four hour workshop taught by award-winning theatre director Andrew Glant-Linden.

Topics to be discussed:

Different methods used by various directors; approaches to different types of plays; rehearsing a play from first read-thru to tech; dealing with "difficult" actors; challenging yourself as a director

Andrew Glant-Linden is a multi-award winning director having received two Carbonell Regional Theatre Awards - as Best Director for his production of Man of La Mancha and Best Choreographer for West Side Story as well as being nominated for his direction and choreography for Grand Hotel and The Secret Garden - at the Jupiter Theatre in Florida. He is also the recipient of the New Hampshire Theatre Award as Best Choreographer for Fiddler on the Roof and was nominated as Best Director for Sweeney Todd and Blood Brothers. Other Regional Theatre credits include multiple productions of: Sweeney Todd, Carousel, Gypsy, Jekyll & Hyde, Evita, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, The Fantasticks, You Can't Take It With You, A Little Night Music, The Full Monty, Into the Woods, Cabaret, Zorba, Amadeus, She Loves Me , South Pacific, Camelot, Brigadoon, Calendar Girls, Moliere’s The Miser and Company. Off-Broadway productions include: Fifth of July (which got a personal “seal of approval” by playwright Lanford Wilson), Buried Treasure, Side by Side by Sondheim, The Baker's Wife (with Wicked composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz) and Jules – about the last days of 1920’s vaudeville star/female impersonator Julian Elting. For two years he was the Artistic Director for the Mt. Washington Valley Theatre Company – then continued to return as Guest Director for 21 seasons, racking up an impressive list of 35 shows there. He has just returned from the prestigious Hippodrome Theatre where he directed the complex and “full of mind-blowing twists and turns” play, Accomplice, by Tony-Awarding winning playwright Rupert Holmes. In July, Andrew will be directing and choreographing the musical 1776 in honor of America’s 250th Birthday. A recent 15 year “side career” had him functioning as Swing Stage Manager for over 1100 performances of Phantom of the Opera on Broadway while directing several new plays in NYC at the same time. An earlier career as an actor, Andrew appeared opposite Julie Harris and Vincent Gardenia in Death of a Salesman, as Geoffrey in The Lion in Winter, Cinna in Julius Caesar and Zach in A Chorus Line. Andrew is a proud member of both SDC - the national Directors & Choreographers Union and Actors Equity Association.
